About happiness

The point to be made about "happiness" is that "happiness" is in the NOW.

The more present, grateful, calm, and aware of your potential you are, the happier you will feel.

Eckhart Tolle wrote: “Realize deeply that the present moment is all you ever have. Make the Now the primary focus of your life.”

But long before him, Jesus taught:
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
— Matthew 6:34

How to obtain happiness NOW?

First, realize that both PAST and FUTURE are LIES, they ONLY exist on your MIND. The past appears as recollections, the future as hope or fear.

"recollections" = "PAST"

or

"hope/fear" = "FUTURE"

  1. 1. Be in the present moment - Hear the birds singing, hear the wind, the sound of your heart beating...

    1. Eckhart Tolle (modern): “Realize deeply that the present moment is all you ever have. Make the Now the primary focus of your life.”

    2. “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
      — Matthew 6:34

  2. 2. Be positive - The more positive your mind is (through faith and self-belief), the more open to: gratitude you will be.

    1. Epictetus (Stoicism): “It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.” A positive orientation is a conscious choice of interpretation.

    2. “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.”
      — John 14:1

  3. 3. Be grateful - Grateful is a state of being and you can choose to be grateful, just by being alive. So, the more grateful you are, the more happiness you'll obtain, with almost no effort.

    1. Seneca (Stoicism): “Nothing is more honorable than a grateful heart.”

    2. “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”
      — John 15:11

So:

  • Happiness is not something to chase in the future or recover from the past.

  • It’s accessible now through presence, positivity (faith), and gratitude.

  • When one of these is missing, happiness feels distant.

Realize that when you're NOT feeling happy, you may not being 1 one of those 3 things:

presence → positivity → gratitude

that's the point to make about happiness.

With love, Ross.
